It always amuses me when we get casting information for a film that was shot almost 3 years ago and will be released in a little less than 9 months from now. Kiwi actor Ian Hughes' website on aucklandactors.co.nz has his last credit to be the part of BEREGOND in ROTK.
Info on Beregon: A soldier of Minas Tirith in Gondor, who befriended Peregrin Took during his time there, and was later appointed to the Guard of Faramir in Emyn Arnen.

Cate Blanchett...Make up your mind child!!!
Peej writes: I have just heard on BBC3 in the UK that Cate has pulled out of the Oscars, stating that she does not want to leave her child in the current situation.
Update: Ananova is reporting that Cate Blanchett WILL attend...so it remains to be seen what will happen.

Recently Ain't-it-cool-news ran a story quoting PJ as stating that there MAY be a POSSIBLE ROTK trailer out in the month of May. Missy sends this along to add a little more fuel to the fire:
Thought I would drop you a line, I work at a movie theater and we get these magizines every couple of weeks the newest one listed the ROTK trailer was going to be sent out in may along with a one sheet to promote the movie (a one sheet is a poster just printed on one side not both like a movie poster or a teaser poster).

When the FOTR:EE DVD was in the works the folks making the DVD headed down to NZ and had WETA re-create Bilbo's desk to shoot some live action sequences of book turning and so on. It seems the same idea is being used for the TTT, and that process has apparently been completed:
I have a friend who knows people went to New Zealand to work on the Two Tower DVDs, and she says they're finished already. She thinks that the extended edition is done as well.
Also good news is that they are trying to do the internationalization as part of the process, so everyone all over the world should get the DVDs at the same time.

I thought this was pretty cool:
The Shieldmaidens: Walk to Rivendell.
The Shieldmaidens, members of The Eowyn Challenge,a new on-line Weight Watchers/LOTR fan group, are organizing a nationwide fitness challenge called The Walk to Rivendell. [But hey, it could be WORLD-wide, right? - Tehanu] Using Middle Earth atlas maps and the trilogy as references, members are committing to walking the same distance as Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin travelled from Hobbiton to Rivendell. This is a month long challenge, and small prizes will be awarded to the first Shieldmaidens to make it to Rivendell.
The Shieldmaidens were formed when on-line ww members noticed that many of them had the same LOTR quote on their personal signatures. The group uses their love for LOTR as inspiration to succeed at their personal health and fitness goals. Each member has committed to a specific goal to achieve by the opening of Return of the King. The Shieldmaidens would like to welcome the global community to take part in The Walk to Rivendell. For more information on The Walk or The Shieldmaidens, e-mail Jax at eowynchallenge@hotmail.com

From Gaming Editor Flinch: Rumors have been trickling down that there is a Return of the King trailer attached to the end of The Two Towers for XBox and GameCube. I'd like to put this rumor to rest. There is footage at the end of the game that is not from the Two Towers theatrical release. This footage is of Aragorn and Gandalf discussing the location of The One Ring. This may be footage that didn't make it into the theatrical release of TTT, but it is not an official trailer for ROTK.
